Dear Blankie Depot Volunteers,
Thank you so much for sending those beautiful blankets our way. The women who crochet them are so talented. I have given some to the NICU, Pediatrics (inpatient and ambulatory care), newborn nursery, and adult ambulatory oncology (as these people feel the cold so easily). They are sure to brighten the patient’s day.

Dear Blankie Depot Team,
Thank you so very much for your generous donation of handmade blankets to the Pediatric Department at K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital at Jersey Shore University Medical Center. The blankets never fail to put a smile on our patient’s faces or make them feel closer to home. We genuinely appreciate your devotion and generosity towards our young patients.
Thank you again,

TO ALL OUR NEW FRIENDS FROM THE QUILTING FOR CHARITY, YARN ARTS AND CRAFTING COMMUNITY WHO CAME OUT IN SUPPORT OF NJ RESIDENTS IMPACTED BY HURRICANE SANDY, THANK YOU!
THE COMFORTING MESSAGE YOUR HANDMADE GIFTS HAVE HAD ON HUNDREDS OF RESIDENTS WILL BE REMEMBERED FOR A VERY LONG TIME! YOU NOT ONLY SHARED YOUR TIME AND CONSIDERABLE TALENTS WITH US, YOU PROVIDED BIG HUGS OF HOPE TO FAMILIES WHEN THEY NEEDED IT MOST. YOUR LETTERS OF SUPPORT AND ENCOURAGEMENT MADE THE LARGE TASK OF DISTRIBUTION A PRIVILEGE.
BEAUTIFUL, ONE OF A KIND HANDMADE QUILTS, HATS, SCARVES AND SOFT TOYS ARRIVED FROM: Alaska, Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maine, Michigan, Montana, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Vermont, Washington, Wisconsin, Wyoming, Toronto CANADA and the South of France.
Our Caravan of Love, volunteer delivery team, coordinated weekly donations of handmade adult quilts and children’s blankets to 15 out of 21 counties in New Jersey from October to February specifically for families impacted by Hurricane Sandy.
We recognize the commitment of our dedication drivers: Cliff, Liz, Kim, Greg, Wendy, Al, Judy, Patti, Anne, Debbie and Nicole from the earliest days of the super storm until the last request arrived. A special note of thanks to Danny for covering our daily cardboard and recycling detail! Remarkably, more than 1,700 quilts came through out doors during five very busy months!
This was the first time in our fifteen year history where we were recipients. Blankie Depot is headquartered in the bayshore area of New Jersey and 45% of our volunteer network hails from a county directly hit by Sandy. All of us worked together to distribute beautiful, one of a kind, handmade blankets, hats, scarves and items created in record time for entire families wiped out by unheard of winds and flooding. We will never forget the kindness and compassion offered to us by the crafting for charity movement.
Several times a year, we are contacted by youth volunteers interested in support our mission in unique but equally helpful ways; project ideas beyond blanket making. One such recent project was completed by a young lady who constructed a demonstration poster for us to use when we give live presentations at schools, community centers and volunteer conferences. The table top tri-fold standee is ideal for sharing our mission and accomplishments with volunteers we meet at special events.
