The Community Chest originated with the United Way
during World War II. When the movement started in the early 1900s,
the Community Chest was the “chest” of money that
was collected by members of the business community to help solve
society issues and problems — health, homelessness, disease,
etc.
We are so fortunate to have the interest of NJ
residents who reach out and contribute to this heartfelt mission.
Our Community Chest page answers the question we are often asked, “where
can I donate…..” Below are several examples of volunteer
categories that exist with state and county agencies throughout
New Jersey.
