Blanket Makers
Guidelines
We gladly accept handmade blankets that are knitted, crocheted, hand-sewn and quilted. That are machine-washable, soft to the skin and created with a child in mind.
Requested Blanket Sizes
- Preemie - 12 x 12 to 24 x 24 inches
- Infant - 30 x 45 inches
- Toddler to Young Child - 36 x 36 inches
- Teen size - 63 x 87 inches or larger
All handmade blankets, hats, and crafted items must be washed, dried and sealed in a new, clean ziplock bag prior to donation. Under new health regulations, hospitals and medical centers, are requiring that donations arrive individually wrapped in pristine condition.

Knit, Quilt or Crochet Mentors
Consider teaching quilting or crocheting. If you have the time and talent
for blanket making, we'd love to hear from you. We often receive
requests from educators, senior groups and our own Caravan of Love delivery team who would like to learn how to quilt
or crochet. Volunteer as a mentor, and pay it forward!

Birthday Blanket Project
A unique alliance with Child Life Hospitals around the country is the focus of this program. Our Birthday Blankies are shipped to terminally ill pediatric patients that call the hospital home. While undergoing treatment, these special kids are embraced with hope and celebration! Create a birthday blanket or adopt the cost of shipping to one child on their birthday and youve made an instant impact! If you would like more about our Birthday Blankie program, please e-mail us.
V to V: Volunteer To Volunteer
A satisfying and impactful program that encourages volunteers to work together! Place a few affordable blanket making supplies in a ziplock bag—and you've got a blanket kit! Donate that kit to PLNJ for another volunteer to use and you've made a difference! Special thanks to youth volunteers who have already participated through their school drives and community club projects. Our senior members have enjoyed receiving kits to work on.
